Consumers continue to obsess over their need to capture all forms of
data and information about themselves and their need to record their
daily throught streams and personal interactions will transcend just
written word and voice into other areas including video, web, and
working with applications. A number of companies came together to meet
the demands of the high-tech unit and collaborated on the project. They
jointly launched it to reduce the overall costs of delivery to the
consumer and provide a superior product with outstanding functionality
and superior value. This was one of the first attempts by major consumer
product manufacturers to participate in a collaborative product
marketing initiative. Interestingly enough, the companies marketed the
products under their own brands to gauge the consumer demand and plan
for future initiatives accordingly.

A major technology content provider capitalized on the opportunity to
develop a new magazine using E-Ink technology and subsidize the delivery
through advertising and sponsorship revenue from major technology
brands. Delivery was possible using short-range wireless technology
provided by local and national cellular carriers to create the best
possible range of availability for subscribers.

The carriers have finally learned that by cooperating together to
provide services using a distributed load balancing technique to share
network resources and focus on providing the best absolute experience to
their customers they will all benefit. Sharing corporate resources and
available capital enables the allocation of funding toward joint
initiatives for R&D and the development of larger scale IT projects to
create additional enhancements to service availability and the quality
of network.

Additional developments in photonics, light switching and holographic
memory storage allowed the national carriers to dramatically enhance
their infrastructure enabling them to deliver greater bandwidth and
increase the quality of content offered. The result allowed the carriers
to share in a larger share of the market.

If we are ultimately fighting for a greater share of a specific market,
then the objectives we are fighting for and the values we obey
dramatically impact the way we approach solutions or even conceive of
them. Otherwise, what's it worth? Spending on advertising to attract
market share away from competitors is always futile in the long run and
a waste of scarce capital. Working together will allow Great Companies
to share available resources and accomplish more with less.
